About Peacemills

Peacemills Care Home is situated in the Nottingham suburb of Sherwood, less than two miles from the centre of the city, with all its shops and amenities. It offers high quality care and accommodation in a warm and supportive environment. We like to think of ourselves as a family and encourage our resident’s relatives to not only visit us, but also take part in everything we do, becoming part of the ongoing care and support their relative receives. We have been and remain proud to be very much part of the local community that surrounds the home and look forward to continuing to care for its residents for many years to come.

A range of good facilities

We are able to offer accommodation to fourty nine residents in rooms with ensuite facilities. For getting together we have a large lounge on the ground floor that also doubles as our in house entertainment room. For those who want to get away for a quieter and perhaps more reflective moment we have the choice of a very attractively decorated smaller lounge or our conservatory area, a lovely place to sit and enjoy the warmth of the sun.

For those residents that enjoy the outdoors we have an enclosed sensory garden complete with its own summerhouse. This is an excellent place for people to sit and enjoy the warmer weather, and we like to hold garden parties whenever possible during the summer months.

A dedicated team

Creating a happy and welcoming home for everyone does not happen by chance. We have an experienced and dedicated staff team at Peacemills who have all been chosen not only for their professional experience but also for the warmth and compassion of their personalities. We want everyone to feel they are being looked after with dignity and respect and that their wellbeing is our top priority. It goes without saying that all our staff are committed to making sure that time spent with us is as happy as possible.

We also understand that placing a relative in care can be a traumatic experience for family members, so we strive to involve them in everything we do when planning their relative’s care. As part of our help for families we provide support and advice whenever needed, as well as specific help for those relatives who require detailed information in relation to loved ones who may be living with dementia.

Leading a fulfilling life

As we get older it is important that we don’t forget how to have fun, and this is certainly our philosophy at Peacemills. Just because someone needs care and attention doesn’t mean they can’t experience a whole variety of enjoyable occasions. In conjunction with our resident’s wishes we arrange a huge range of activities in house as well as organizing trips out on a regular basis.

Recently< we have had baking days, knitting parties, craft and card making sessions, magicians, singers and exercise and dance classes. We frequently hold parties to celebrate not just birthdays but also Easter, Halloween, Bonfire night and Christmas. Outside of the home we have gone on boat trips, visited a Goose Fair and many other events in and around Nottingham. We hope that whatever someone’s interests are there will always be something for them to enjoy.

Good food is important

We believe that mealtimes are an important part of everyone’s day and we work hard to make sure that all our residents enjoy a healthy and balanced diet. Lunchtime can often be a busy time in the home as it is when friends get together for a chat and there is often the constant bubble of conversation. Our cooks use good quality ingredients and pride themselves on the variety and choice offered by our menus. They also recognise that everyone likes a treat now and again, so if there something a resident particularly fancies, perhaps an old favourite, then our cooks will do their best to put it on the menu. We can also cater for special  dietary needs, should a resident be diabetic, gluten intolerant or have specific food allergies.

We hope that you will enjoy a visit to Peacemills Care Home and we are available at any time to help you with making the right care choice for you. Please do not hesitate to call us and ask for our help.
